Turngrip application:
My application is to close a 6kg steel pannel (4mm thickness +0,6mm/-0mm). This steel panel has two hinges on one side and a quick lock on the other to close it.
I have to create a new part that content the receptacle (in case I use the 991F Series). I mean that the counter part where I lock it’s not finish design jet. Im planing to lock against 4 or 5mm plate.
This panel will be intalled in a vehicle that will be shaked through differents profiles till 21G. (21G it’s just a pick on the shaker profile).
That’s why it’s important that the locking device stand up the 21G.
I will use a frame of 5mm. The tolerances will be like following:
Upper panel → P = 4mm – 4.6mm
Frame → F = 5mm – 5,15mm
How quick can I get 2 or 4 samples of this model TGSEW-093S?
Answer 1
You cannot use the high precision version, since we do not know the exact panel thickness upfront and you have too much variability.
Although inside the Turngrip we can work with shims, so you can adapt the Turn-grip yourself to match the exact plate thickness.
On the other hand the Belleville washer we use can do 700N (max 791N)
So in the test, what will happen, is that at 21G the clamping force will be overgained, which means, the rest will be tension load.
And our fastener can do 5000N, so should be okay for you.
So in case you use the plate F 4mm
It means you have a total thickness of 8-8.6mm
If we would make a version that can do 8.3mm it would mean you have a spec of 8.05mm-8.55mm
Your part number would be: TGSEW-083S
So in case you use the plate F 5mm
It means you have a total thickness of 9-9.6mm
If we would make a version that can do 9.3mm it would mean you have a spec of 9.05mm-9.55mm
Your part number would be: TGSEW-093S
Answer 2:
First of all, I would like to issue a quote
It seams you have a potential
Min. total plate thickness = 9mm
Max total plate thickness = 9,75mm
Which means 9,375mm, which means 9,4mm
(our theoretical tolerance is 0.3mm instead of the 0.25mm, so our tolerance: 9,1 mm – 9,7mm)
TGSEW-094S will fall better in the spec
Yes we have the possibility to coat it black, niblox coating
This will increase our standard manufacturing time with around 1-2 weeks
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/uAvDSPsGTYc (check this video for the coating that we will provide)
I would recommend to take the standard screws, as they help to counter the shear loads
(always order two screws for 1 Turn-Grip)
We can put engineering time on making a folding wing/bail handle, then no special deal on the samples is possible, and I estimate the cost to be factor 1,6 to 1,8 of what has been quoted above
The size of the quarter turn will be probably bigger, is this acceptable? I would need to know dimensions that are possible, limitations for your project.
It will most likely look like something here below:
